Alyson Smith

MA, CPC

Alyson received her Bachelors Degree in Psychology from Shippensburg University and then went on to earn a Master’s Degree in Sociology from SUNY Albany. After graduate school, Alyson spent 7 years working outdoor-based seasonal jobs across the country. In 2012, she moved to Asheville to work in Wilderness Therapy and ended up calling Asheville home ever since.

In 2021, she started her own business of supporting folks across the therapy profession with coaching, organizational systems, and business practices. Alyson’s style is approachable, down-to-earth, and supportive. She prefers her coaching sessions to be outdoors, or at least active. She would prefer to be helping clients actually complete tasks rather than spending time talking about it. Because she’s an empathetic person and a parent, she can often bridge the gap between the young adults’ choices and their family’s perspective.

Alyson gets out hiking and backpacking as much as possible. Most recently, she visited Mallorca and hiked 4 days through the mountains. In Summer 2024, she backpacked in Glacier National Park for 5 nights. Alyson was a raft guide on the New River and Gauley River in WV. She has boated the Grand Canyon several times and hiked extensively in Arizona and other parts of the West.

She’s also an active mom to two grade schoolers and is always organizing adventurous play dates. At home, Alyson can be found tending her garden or houseplant collection.
