Katie Smith is a Western North Carolina native and was born and raised in Brevard, NC and currently lives in Asheville where she’s lived for the past 8 years. The mountains of WNC and the people who live in them are near and dear to Katie’s heart. She loves caring for her community and helping folks tap into their full potential.
Katie is an experienced and formerly licensed Educator in North Carolina with a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education and a certificate in teaching English as a Second Language (ESL). Katie has taught grades 1 – 9 over a span of seven years in the field and has taught both in Asheville and in Central Europe. Outside of working in the field of education, she worked for 5 years with youth aged 6th-12th grades in partnership with Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church in Asheville. Katie has been part of the LifeTutors team since February of this year. She was drawn to LifeTutors’ mission of helping young adults navigate the tricky world of “adulting”. Addressing this in formal education is often overlooked and Katie has long seen the importance of filling this gap for folks in need of additional support.
As a coach, Katie specializes in building interpersonal skills and confidence, goal setting, growth mindset, and assisting with/organizing daily tasks. She loves creating a relaxed atmosphere where folks feel free to be who they are without judgement while also working to evoke change that folks desire for themselves. She believes deeply in the power that we all have to create change for ourselves and has a passion to help folks tap into this for themselves.
