Courtney Amberger

B. S. Psychology

Courtney holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Excelsior University and serves on the Board of Directors for Beyond Brazen, an organization supporting women. Courtney has over a decade of experience supporting individuals of all ages in educational, behavioral health, and community-based settings. She began her career as a Paraeducator and Associate Teacher through Monroe One BOCES, working with students to build academic, social, and executive functioning skills. She then expanded her experience as a Direct Support Professional and Behavior Technician with People, Inc., supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in developing life skills, emotional regulation, and independence.

Courtney also served as a House Manager, and Behavior Technician with the ARC Ontario, supporting adult clients with intellectual and developmental disabilities, by overseeing residential supports, implementing behavioral programs, teaching life skills, and helping to foster independence while navigating daily routines and community participation. 

Additionally, Courtney has experience conducting CANS (Child and Adolescent Needs and Strengths) assessments on behalf of OPWDD (Office of People with Developmental Disabilities), further strengthening her expertise in individualized care planning. She is currently a Community Habilitation Specialist, providing in-home and community-based support to help clients achieve personal goals and build confidence.

Courtney is a neurodiversity-affirming coach who supports autistic and ADHD teens, young adults, and adults in building practical skills, confidence, and independence. She specializes in executive functioning support, including task initiation, organization, planning, and time management, and uses strengths-based strategies to help clients understand how their brains work. Courtney also helps clients develop self-advocacy, emotional regulation, coping strategies, and life skills needed for school, work, and independent living.

By combining lived experience with professional expertise in behavioral support, executive functioning, and skill-building, Courtney works closely with clients to create individualized strategies that foster growth, autonomy, and long-term success, as well as build systems and routines that align with an individuals natural abilities and processes.

Outside of work, Courtney enjoys spending time with her husband, Bennett, cat, Moo and dog, Cooper, exploring nature, and going on scenic drives. She loves doing puzzles, watching movies, and listening to music, finding these activities both relaxing and inspiring. Whether unwinding at home or enjoying the outdoors, Courtney values time spent recharging and connecting with the world around her.

She founded an autism-focused life coaching practice for late-diagnosed autistic women and contributed to the visuals in the published paper Healing the Cycle: An Integrative Approach to Healing Intimate Partner Violence – A Brief Report in the Journal of Family Violence, translating complex concepts into clear, accessible visual formats.
